On this holy occasion, within India and in foreign countries wherever disciples of Satguru Kabir Saheb and Kabir-panthis are, we wish everyone all auspiciousness and wellbeing.
We hope that this holy day will give you inspiration to sit in holy congregation, to do social work for welfare of others and to promote harmony amongst everyone you come in contact with. Because the divine words of Satguru Kabir Saheb is like a thread that unites everyone, His divine words always bring us peace, feelings of non-violence and harmonious union with all. The wisdom of Kabir Saheb should be promoted in the society where you are living as much as possible. This will improve the character of the people of your society. On this day on the holy soil of Varanasi in the year 1398 CE [AD] Satguru Kabir Saheb appeared in Lahartara Lake. From this holy place we have the earnest desire that you must get to understand the deep meaning of the sayings of Satguru Kabir Saheb.
Each of his verses is full of deep meanings.
Kabir kaa ghar shikhar par, jaha silhali gaila;
paav na tike pipil ka, tahaa pandit laade bail.
The house of Kabir is on the top of the mountain where there is no space for the foot of an ant, and there the scholar is taking a cartload of books.
Jab mai thaa tab hari nahi, ab hari hai mai naahee;
sab andhiyaaraa mit gayaa, deepak dekhat maahi.
When I am there, Hari is not; when Hari is present, I am not. All darkness has been removed by the light of knowledge and wisdom.
Kabir kharaa bazaar me, sab kee chaahe khair;
naa kaahu se dosti, na kaahu se bair.
Kabir stands in the market place as a well-wisher of all neither friends nor foe of anyone.
Around 600 years ago these declarations of Kabir Saheb were made when in Kashi there was blind faith and when rigidity of beliefs was prominent in the society.
In his simple, innocent and honest words Kabir Saheb spoke these words without any compromise. Standing on the crossroad in the middle of the city he made these declarations. His call was for the people to renounce scorn, enmity and violence. On this date of his appearance you should try to adopt non-violence in the form of love for everyone.
In the time of Satguru Kabir Saheb the mental attitude and way of thinking was such that he spoke these words:
Saai itnaa deejiye, jaame kutumb samaay;
mai bhee bhukhaa naa rahoo, saadhu na bhukhaa jaay.
Oh God give me so much that I could maintain my family and myself and have sufficient to feed any hungry person who comes to visit me.
Kar bahiyaa bal aapane, chhaad viraani aas;
jaake aangan nadi bahe, so kas mare piyaas.
Forego dependence on others rely upon your own abilities. How can one die of thirst in whose courtyard river flows.
Today, there is great, chaos in the society. People are blindly rushing after wealth. Some people save so much that they cannot use. Some people live without doing any work and hoard property and wealth.
All these problems of today have been identified by Satguru Kabir Saheb in his verses, in simple language.
On this 613th appearance day celebration, we humbly bow before him. From this holy place we wish all the devotees of Satguru Kabir Saheb happiness and welfare. May Kabir Saheb bless you with peace and happiness.
